King Spa Chantilly Review : Best Budget Day Spa In Northern VA

A few of my favorite memories on vacation are of spa days, especially the ones that have hydrotherapy. It’s so satisfying to come out of an experience while traveling rejuvenated instead of exhausted.
King Spa is a Korean day spa and is one of the best priced spa experiences I’ve ever had. It’s conveniently located right near Dulles Airport, so if you either have a long layover or are looking for a wellness experience in Northern VA just outside of DC, it’s the perfect spot to refresh.

Full King Spa Chantilly Review
One caveat before I say anything else, the showers at King Spa Chantilly are in the bathhouse section of the gender-segregated locker rooms and in order to use them you have to be nude. This is to keep with the culture of a traditional Korean spa. If it bothers you, you can always skip a shower and shower at your hotel instead!
Also, you may want to bring a book or headphones if you’re coming solo so that you can read or listen to music while you’re in the saunas and relaxing in between activities. You should also bring a bathing suit if you want to enjoy the awesome hydrotherapy pools.
Entering the spa and getting set up was super easy and there was no line on a Thursday afternoon. The way it works is you pay an entrance fee, which is discounted on the week days, and then you can book additional services or buy food and drinks on top of that fee.

The first thing you do when you enter King Spa Chantilly is put your shoes into a little locker as it’s a shoeless facility (you can use socks if you want), and then your other things into a separate locker. The locker system is pretty high tech and easy to use.
Then you have some options. You can either 1.) use the bathhouse in the locker rooms which have pools of varying temperatures, sort of like hot and cold therapy. This is where nudity required as a cleanliness measure.
2.) Change into your swimsuit and visit the indoor and/or outdoor pools. 3.) Put on the complimentary uniform you’re given and enter the dry area of the spa for the saunas.
This is also the best time to book any massages or treatments you would like, inside the locker rooms. My husband and I decided to head up to the pools!
Indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pools
The pools at King Spa Chantilly are definitely my favorite part of the experience, but I’m biased because I love swimming and always have. I also have chronic pain and the hydrotherapy jets are perfect for it.

The indoor pool is just off the outdoor pool and they have little towels there for you. It was chillier than the outdoor pool and less heated, but I loved that there’s a big waterfall and also a little cove to sit and hangout with drinks or to chat.
Right outside at the outdoor pool there’s a covered area of lounge chairs which was helpful for us since we visited in the winter.

The outdoor pool is my favorite part of the whole spa. It was the perfect temperature and a great size where you can still have your own spot.
That being said, we visited on a Thursday evening that the front desk person said was pretty empty. I can see the pool filling up pretty fast on the weekends.

The outdoor pool also has a few jacuzzis. The best part of it is all the different jets. There are jets that come down from above, “beds” you can lay down in the water with jets coming out on your back, seats with jets on all sides, etc. At night the pool is lit up with pretty colors.
10 unique saunas
Next we decided to head inside and check out the saunas. I wasn’t sure how much I would enjoy these because I’m very sensitive to heat but I liked them a lot more than expected!

I loved how there are so many and that they all have different health benefits for your body. You can see the explanations for each sauna at King Spa Chantilly here. My favorites were the base rock sauna and the gold sauna. I liked meditating on what they were supposed to help in my body while I laid down in each for about 10 minutes.
They also have one that is heated up to 390 degrees!!! It’s called the Bul Han Jing Mak sauna. I didn’t do that one since I’m so sensitive to heat but my husband did and he said it wasn’t too too bad. Plus you’ll have bragging rights!
In the same area as saunas they also have a bunch of big comfy lounge chairs and even media room with a giant screen showing a relaxing nature scene and a nap space. This part I think could be especially great for travelers spending the day.
And of course we can’t forget about what they have to eat and drink, especially because King Spa Chantilly is designed for you to stay a while. The food was actually so good and they have a big selection! First we both got a fruit smoothie, which was super refreshing to have in between sauna sessions.

Next for dinner we both got Yaki Udon. Although it was pricy – more like restaurant prices rather than quick food, it was so delicious and fresh tasting. I believe you’re able to bring smoothies and drinks into the indoor and outdoor pools on the 2nd floor. Note there’s no alcohol served.
We started and ended at the outdoor pool so that we could enjoy it during the day and at night. I liked it better at night! It was the perfect way to end our spa date.
Overall King Spa Chantilly is the perfect spot for a date night, girls outing or travelers looking for a low cost spa day! I’ll definitely return the next time I have a solo day off.
